WWE reveals SummerSlam Saturday, Sunday cards, adds new match

As Summerslam expands to a two-night format for the first time in its 37-year history, fans have been speculating about which matches will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3. Now, they have their answer. On Friday, WWE announced the full match card during a 'SummerSlam Match Reveal Show' on its YouTube channel, where a new match was also added to the lineup. The updated card is as follows: SummerSlam Saturday: World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk Women's Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill Women's Tag Team Championship: Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed Jelly Roll & Randy Orton vs. Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross SummerSlam Sunday: WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes WWE Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu Women's Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria Women's World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky Zayn's match against Kross, added Friday, could hint at Kross' future with WWE. Reportedly, Kross' deal expires next month. It remains to be seen if he'll be re-signed, despite putting in phenomenal work over the past half-year. The outcome of his match with Zayn could signal big things ahead for Kross and his wife and manager Scarlett or serve as the blowoff to their feud, with Zayn moving forward in his pursuit of championship glory. With so much attention focused on John Cena and his reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion during his retirement tour, it comes as no surprise that he will headline SummerSlam Sunday against Cody Rhodes for the title. With that in mind, WWE evened out the card well, loading up Saturday with some big names. Roman Reigns, Gunther, and CM Punk are the featured acts on Saturday's lineup, which is loaded with tag team matches. Among them, musical artist Jelly Roll teaming up with Randy Orton to face Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. Of note, Paul Heyman's men, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker will be in action on Saturday, battling Reigns and Jey Uso. With the Money in the Bank contract in their hands, it will be interesting to see what role Heyman's crew plays in Punk's bid for the World Title against Gunther. The match announcements come just days after WWE and Fandango unveiled a new partnership to screen premium live events in theaters. Starting with SummerSlam, select Regal Cinemas across the U.S. will host the two-night event. Tickets are on sale at While many fans may still stream the event on Peacock, others looking for a night out with fellow wrestling fans will have the option to attend in theaters — possibly choosing based on which stars appear each night. CM Punk Reveals When He Knew He ‘Made It' In WWE

One of the top stars in WWE is the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. He has been a part of the professional wrestling business for almost three decades. Recently, the Second City Saint revealed the moment when he knew that he had made it in WWE. CM Punk was a guest on the Unsportsmanlike podcast. During the interview, the Best in the World revealed the moment he knew that he had made it in WWE. He named one of the makeup women in WWE, Jane, who yelled at him back in 2005 when he came into WWE for a dark match. But six years later, when Punk was one of the hottest products in WWE, Jane came up to him and asked why he never came up and spoke to her. That was the moment when he knew that he made it in WWE. 'There used to be one makeup lady (in WWE). Her name was Jane. Not the nicest lady in the world. This is how I knew I made it. My first time, I was under contract in Ohio Valley Wrestling, and I was brought up to do a dark match. I found the spray bottle that was in the makeup case and I was wetting my hair, I hear, down the hallway, all these expletives, like a sailor was yelling at me. I turn around and it was Jane. ''What do you think you're doing? That is for talent. Put it down.' I was like, 'Okay.' Quietly tiptoe away. That was 2005. In 2011, CM Punk became the hottest superstar in the business and Jane walks up to me one day and goes, 'How come you never come see me? You know I can cut your hair, right?' I was like, 'I made it. I'm a top guy now,'' CM Punk said. [H/T post CM Punk Reveals When He Knew He 'Made It' In WWE appeared first on Wrestlezone.

Ryback Defends CM Punk After He Apologized And Competed In Saudi Arabia

Ryback coming to CM Punk's defense in 2025 probably wasn't on many wrestling fans' bingo cards this year. WWE Superstar CM Punk has come under fire from critics and fans following his appearance in Saudi Arabia this week, where he apologized for a six-year-old tweet and competed against John Cena in the main event of Night of Champions. Surprisingly, one of Punk's biggest detractors of the last decade, former WWE Superstar Ryback, has come to his defense today on social media in response to an opinion piece, tweeting out: 'I've had my issues with Punk, but I don't see him as a sellout. He returned to do what he loves and to make money — much like you're doing by writing critical think pieces about others for clicks. WWE is a global business, and working at that level means navigating complex deals, personal beliefs, and public perception. His apology wasn't about abandoning values — it was about how he expressed them publicly in ways that hurt professional relationships,' Ryback said in a post. CM Punk Had ‘Handshake Agreement' For 2019 WWE Return, Reveals Why It Didn't Happen

CM Punk claims he had a handshake agreement to return to WWE in 2019, so why didn't it end up happening? WWE Superstar CM Punk was a recent guest on My Mom's Basement with Robbie Fox. During the discussion, Punk claims that before the spot on Backstage came together, he had a private meeting with Vince McMahon and Triple H about returning to WWE in 2018 or 2019. Punk said the two sides had a handshake agreement for him to return, but McMahon ghosted him after the meeting. 'I think the Twitter and the internet perception is I tried to go back to WWE, and they didn't want me, so I went and did the FOX show. That's not what happened at all. I had a hilarious, clandestine meeting in the Borgata in Atlantic City with Vince (McMahon) and Triple H. I don't even know now. What is it? It's 2025. This has to be 2018 or '19, and it's just because Vince just started (calling). 'I had agents, they were telling me, 'Hey, they wanna talk to you,' and I was like, 'Whatever, I'm not interested,' and then Vince just started calling me. He was like, 'Hey! I'm eliminating the middleman,' and I was just like, 'This is insane,' and it just so happened that, 'Oh, well, I'm gonna be here.' 'Alright, we can get there.' You know, 'Okay, alright' and we had a meeting and we had a handshake agreement and then he ghosted me. CM Punk and Triple H chipped away at their problems during this meeting 'So, that's why it didn't happen. Unbelievable. I'm gonna write a book someday… It's a great story. It's a fantastic story. Yeah, that would have been probably the first time that me and Triple H probably started chipping away at any problems or drama that we had in the past. That was the first instance… Yeah (I was open to a return at the time). I was very much just like, yeah, okay. Pay me, whatever. I took some stuff personally. Like, years have gone by. Alright, I'm over it, recognized that it's a business. You don't want me to take it personally? Just pay me.' Paul Heyman Reacts To Roman Reigns' Return on WWE Raw

At Saturday Night's Main Event, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther successfully retained his title against WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg. Following that, on Monday Night Raw, a number one contender's Gauntlet match took place to determine the Ring General's challenger for SummerSlam. One of the contestants in the gauntlet match was Bron Breakker. He also had his Oracle Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed in his corner to make things a lot more easier for him. Breakker was the one who kicked off the Gauntlet. He lasted up until the end thanks to some help from his faction member Bronson Reed. But the person who won the Gauntlet match was none other than CM Punk. He hit the GTS and pinned Bron Breakker. As a result, punched his ticket to SummerSlam. The Best in the World will wrestle Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Advertisement But unfortunately, the Empire's plans did not come to fruition and things got from bad to worse as former WWE Undisputed Champion, the Original Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, made his return to WWE. The Tribal Chief was last seen on the Raw after WrestleMania 41. Reigns showed up and took out both Breakker and Bronson Reed. Following the night, the Oracle, Paul Heyman, took to Twitter to send a message to the Tribal Chief and the WWE Universe. Heyman claimed that the Gauntlet was Bron Breakker's to win. But since Reigns cost him the match and an opportunity at the WWE World Title, the Empire is going to nuke the OTC's Island of Relevancy. 'Just landed home in New York. This was supposed to be @BronBreakkerWWE's night. We are going to nuke the Island of Relevancy!' Paul Heyman tweeted. After the show, Roman Reigns also broke his silence about his return.
